Description

Honey buns are soft, sweet pastries infused with honey and cinnamon, then topped with a delicious glaze. These irresistible treats are perfect for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup honey
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add the yeast mixture, egg, honey, and butter.
  3. Knead the Dough: Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  4. Let It Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours until it doubles in size.
  5. Shape the Honey Buns: Roll out the dough, cut it into strips, and coil them into a spiral shape.
  6. Bake or Fry: Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-18 minutes, or fry until golden brown.
  7. Add the Glaze: Mix the powdered sugar, honey, and milk, then drizzle over the warm buns.

Notes

  • For extra softness, brush the buns with melted butter before adding the glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds.
