Description

Juicy, tender garlic steak paired with perfectly crispy oven-baked fries. This restaurant-quality meal is easy to make at home, bursting with flavor, and ready in under an hour. Perfect for weeknight dinners or special occasions!

Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 12 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary (optional, for garnish)

For the Fries:

  • 4 medium-sized russet potatoes, peeled and cut into thin strips
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for a smoky kick)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fries:
    • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Toss potato strips with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
    • Arrange on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crispy.
  • Cook the Steak:
    • Let steaks come to room temperature for 30 minutes. Pat dry and season with salt and pepper.
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steaks for 3-4 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust as needed).
    • Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and minced garlic. Spoon garlic butter over the steaks for 1-2 minutes.
    • Remove from heat, tent with foil, and rest for 5-10 minutes.
  • Serve:
    • Plate steak with fries. Drizzle remaining garlic butter over the steak.
    • Garnish with parsley for fries and thyme/rosemary for steak. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Use a meat thermometer for accuracy: Medium-rare is 130°F (54°C), and medium is 140°F (60°C).
  • Soaking potato strips in cold water for 30 minutes removes starch for crispier fries.
  • Add paprika for a smoky twist to the fries or skip for classic flavor.
